US: CPEC will be soft target for militants

ISLAMABAD – The director of US National Intelligence claimed on Thursday that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will provide soft targets for the militants.

Speaking at Senate Select Committee on Intelligence he said that Pakistan is responsible for the deterioration of relations between Pakistan and India.

“Islamabad’s failure to curb support to anti-India militants and New Delhi’s growing intolerance of this policy, coupled with a perceived lack of progress in Pakistan’s investigations into the January 2016 Pathankot cross-border attack, set the stage for a deterioration of bilateral relations in 2016,” said Coats, as quoted by Pakistan Today.

He expressed grief over the recent increase in Firefights along the Line of Control, including the use of artillery and mortars.

Coats said that the terrorist’s group working under Pakistan will harm the U.S. interest in the region; he also expressed confidence for Pakistan that it will be able to manage its internal security.

He stated that Tehreek-e Taliban Pakistan, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, ISIS-K, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, and Lashkar-e Jhangvi al-Alami” are more likely to threat the internal security of Pakistan.
