KARACHI – Government of Sindh has announced  Eid-al-Fitr 2017 holidays, Pakistantribe.com reported.

According to the schedule, the holidays will be observed from June 26 to 28 June.

A notification has been issued in this regard.

However, the government employees will be able to enjoy five holidays, with Saturday and Sunday before the announced vacations.

Earlier, the federal government also announced holidays for these days.

According to Met Department, Eid al-Fitr 2017 in Pakistan is on Monday, the 26th of June (26/6/2017).

Note that in the Muslim calendar, a holiday begins on the sunset of the previous day, so observing Muslims will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on the sunset of Sunday, the 25th of June.

Although Eid al-Fitr is always on the same day of the Islamic calendar, the date on the Gregorian calendar varies from year to year, since the Gregorian calendar is a solar calendar and the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar.

This difference means Eid al-Fitr moves in the Gregorian calendar approximately 11 days every year. The date of Eid al-Fitr may also vary from country to country depending on whether the moon has been sighted or not.
