KARACHI – The government of Sindh has curtailed the powers of the Inspector General Police (IGP) AD Khawaja and took away the right of transfers and appointments of the police officials from him.
The rift between IG and Home Department has been further deepened; Since the govt cannot remove him after court’s stay order, they are trying to minimize his powers
In a notification, Sindh chief secretary said that the powers to appoint or transfer police officials have been suspended and now he can’t appoint or transfer any police official.
After the Sindh government’s new order, the Sindh IG even could not appoint SSP level officer while the Gulf with Sindh government would be further widened.
It is pertinent to mention that the rift between the IG and the provincial government continued for few months and the Sindh government had removed him from his post but later SHC setting aside Sindh government’s decision restored him.
