KARACHI – The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will observe ‘Black Day’ on Friday against the government, National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and K-Electric over continuing power outages in Karachi.
JI will protest against unannounced and prolonged power outages in Karachi during Ramzan have irked the citizens greatly.
Not only in Karachi, but people across Pakistan have been staging protests in various areas.
Asked about the situation, JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman said that his party will hold a demonstration against K-Electric in Karachi on Friday. He said the consumers are being looted with the collusion of government, NEPRA, and K-Electric.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) also lambasted the city’s sole power producer for failing to cater to the demand of electricity.
Holding a presser here, Faisal Sabzwari said slammed that power supply to the city was interrupted by the arrival of Ramzan. “Citizens are longing for electricity, why is K-Electric not generating power?”
