BRUSSELS – Belgium on Monday voted to banned the Halal and Kosher meat through a voting driven by the environment committee of the Walloon region, the committee looks forward to ending the slaughtering of un-stunned animals in the country.

This decision will directly affect the communities of Muslims and Jews, meat has its own importance in the religious practices.

Law will be enforced on September 1, 2017; the slit of animal’s throat and drains of the blood is a religious practice in both religions. The Muslim community of Belgium has shown concerns over the decision taken by authorities.

“Muslims are worried about whether they can eat halal food … in conformity with their religious rites and beliefs,” said a Belgium Muslim executive, as quoted by Tribune.

The same sort of law has proposed by the parliament of northern Flemish and countries like New Zealand, Switzerland and Denmark already have a law which prohibits the slaughter of un-stunned animals.
